How to request images of Museo di Roma's collections

Museo di Roma’s images database is searchable in museum’s Documentation Center; a selection of images can be viewed online accessing the website To request images, the user needs to fill the Request form  and send it by e-mail to: and or to
At the Documentation Centre of the Museum of Rome it is possible to search for images on the SIMART database. A selection of images of works of the Museum of Rome with the relevant catalogue entries can be viewed online by accessing the website .

Images can be requested:

• for study or research (free jpeg, low resolution, copyright)

• for paper or digital publications (TIFF HR, 300 dpi, for a fee)

For study and research purposes (free):
After acceptance of filled and signed request form, Museum’s Iconographic Office will send by e-mail the requested images in jpeg, low resolution, with captions, to the address indicated on the form.

For publications (fee applied, except for exceptions provided by current regulation):
After acceptance of filled and signed request form, Museum’s Iconographic Office will send by e-mail an estimate, based on current regulation, with request for acceptance by the user. Upon acceptance of the estimate by the user, the office will send by e-mail an authorization letter including cost’s amount. Only after receiving the letter user can proceed with the payment, to be done by bank transfer to:

• Two copies of the publication must be sent to Museo di Roma’s Iconographic Archive

Upon receipt of the copy of the payment, the Iconographic Office will send the requested images by e-mail.

Images must be used only and exclusively for the purpose indicated in the form; for any other purpose (or subsequent edition) new authorization must be requested.
