The canvas was painted in 1746 for the canonization of Camillo de Lellis founder, in 1591, of the Order of Ministers of the Invalids. At the height of success, during the pontificate of Benedict XIV, Pierre Subleyras describes the dramatic episode of the life of the saint with a moving and sober.
